The Big Band Trumpets was founded on 22 February 1994 and its founding members, manager Karel Polách and bandleader Jiří Volf, took Bill Chase's orchestra as a model. Since the activities of the B. Chase's orchestra was tragically terminated by a plane crash, the Big Band Trumpets (BBT) is probably the only orchestra in the world that performs stably with a trumpet and rhythm section supplemented by female vocals. Genre-wise, however, BBT is classified as a big band because of its inclination towards big band swing. Everyone has heard songs like In The Mood, Summertime, Georgia, Rat Race, Cave Canem, Opus One and Flying Home with the classic lineup of saxophones, trombones, trumpets and rhythm section. But to hear the same thing in trumpets only is a stunning experience.
The band features Zbyněk Bartoš, Karel Polách, Jiří Volf, Miroslav Zembala and Radek Stamenov, as well as Slavomir Pennička, Pavel Hradil, Pavel Plašil and Kateřina Němcová.
