Global talent, acoustic guitarist and composer Soenke Meinen was born in 1991 in Aurich in Lower Saxony. He’s played the guitar since he was 8 years old. Since 2011, he’s been a student at the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music in Dresden and has over 250 concerts under his belt. Apart from solo performances, he plays in a duo with guitarist Philipp Wiechert. In 2013, the duo recorded an album titled Philisoephical Journey. Meinen played with such music luminaries as Adam Rafferty, Peter Finger, Joscho Stephan and Joe Robinson and supported Tommy Emmanuel and other stars. He’s won many awards, for example third place in the 2008 Open Strings competition as the youngest entrant and the 2016 European Guitar Award. In 2011, Meinen co-founded the international Freepsum Guitar Festival and was appointed as one of its artistic directors. His solo album is pencilled in for 2016.
