Cyrille Oswald began his professional music career in the early 1990s, when he lived in the Caribbean. After returning to his native Holland, he studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under John Ruocco. Since then he has recorded and performed in Holland and abroad with ensembles such as Cubop City Big Band, Nueva Manteca, Rumbata and others. Since 2008, Cyrille Oswald has been based mainly in Prague. After lecturing at jazz workshops organised by the Czech Jazz Society, he soon formed his own quartet with David Dorůžka, Tomáš Liška and Daniel Šoltis. The music of this ensemble could be called postmodern jazz and draws from many other musical areas – world music, alternative music or modern classical music.

He is a private student of many recognized pianists in the Czech Republic and abroad, Omer Klein, Brian Charette, Vojtěch Eckert or Jiří Levíček, and he also perfects his craft on several workshops. Among others with the bebop legend George Cables.
