Mirka Novak ()
Mirka Novak – singer, vocal experimenter who loves improvisation, frontwoman of several bands dedicated to jazz, soul, funk. In 2022, she released her solo debut album Malbum on the Slovak label Hevhetia, featuring guest appearances by Zdeněk Bína, Endru and Ridina Ahmedová. For the past 10 years, she has been traveling regularly to the USA to record her original songs and collaborate with world-class musicians in Austin, Washington D.C., Boston and New York. She performs alone with a loop station or in jazz groups with musicians such as Federico G. Peña (Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller), Tarus Mateen (Betty Carter), Dave Manely (Jill Scott), David Haynes (Chaka Khan).
Kristina Barta ()
Kristina Barta, first name Kristýna Urbánková Bárta, is a Czech jazz pianist and composer. Her music is an excellent example of modern European jazz, drawing on a unique blend of classical music and jazz's unplayed innovations. Barta began her musical journey as an oboist studying at the Jan Neruda Gymnasium and later took up piano and composition at the Academy of Performing Arts. She became a prominent member of the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra. Her music has been heard all over Europe thanks to prestigious festivals such as Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazzahead! and many others. Her talent has also been recognized in a number of prestigious awards, including first place in the Jazz Composers Competition in the Czech Republic in 2016, the finals of the Euroradio Jazz Competition in the Netherlands, and an award for exceptional piano skills at the Powiew Młodego Jazzu festival in Poland in 2017. With two albums EMA29 (2017) and Love and Passion (2021), Barta recently released her latest album Endless Questions and Answers (2023), in collaboration with world-renowned saxophonist Jure Pukl. Barta is currently working on several new albums not only for her quartet but also for the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with guitarist David Dorůžka and saxophonist Jure Pukl. In 2024 she founded her own jazz festival in chamber format called Prague Impro Room.
