Jana Koubková ()
Jana Koubková has been singing since she was six years old in choirs, vocal groups and as a soloist. As a jazz soloist she made her name in 1975 in the Jazz Sanatorium of Luděk Hulan. Since then, she has worked in many different styles of ensembles. From blues, swing, mainstream to bebop, Latin, free to world-ethno and fusion. She founded the Vokalíza festival (1981–2000) for jazz, blues and rock singers. For six years she worked at the Prague State Conservatory in the field of performance. She participated in many festivals not only in Europe, but also in Cuba, Algeria, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Lebanon, Israel, Morocco, etc.
Ondřej Kabrna ()
Ondřej Kabrna is a Czech jazz pianist. He is a graduate of the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, where he studied jazz piano with Prof. Jiří Růžička and where he currently teaches music theory and jazz piano. Among other things, he plays Hammond B-3 and accordion. He is a member of Jana Koubková's EU Band, Latin Wave, Bohemia Big Band, Ruchadze Band, Prague Session Orchestra, VB Jazz Quartet. In addition to his band, the Ondřej Kabrna Trio performs alongside his famous Czech jazz musicians. The main characteristic of the Ondřej Kabrna Trio is an almost minimalist focus on pure and transparent sound and sensitive work with dynamics, whose waxing and waning within solos and trio passages is almost a basic building method of the form. In this respect, the Kabrn Trio is markedly different from our usual jazz production.
